After reading about all our success stories on our website, Jennifer decided it was time. From the moment she walked in the doors at Tribe, she was determined and committed to being our next Tribe Hero. 25 kilos down, she is feeling like a new woman. Here she shares her journey.
As an Aged Care Nurse, I was constantly on my feet, busy and relatively active helping patients. When I retired a couple of years ago, I found myself at home more and slowly became unmotivated. I progressively put on weight and began to feel really unhappy. I found myself feeling really down about how I looked and would often feel overwhelmed and tear up easily.
I started seeing stories from Tribe about all these amazing people losing weight, loving their training and feeling really comfortable and supported. I jumped on Tribe’s website and read Every. Single. Story. I was in awe of these achievements and found the motivation to want this for myself. One day, I was out and about on a few errands and was right near Tribe. I remember thinking, ‘this is it, I’m just going to go in’. It’s the best thing I’ve ever done!
Since joining Tribe, my life has totally changed. My husband can’t believe how much I’m loving the gym (I’ve been to gyms before where I’ve made a weekly donation as I rarely attended). My confidence has significantly increased. I’m not the one standing in the background or sitting on the sideline anymore, I’m happy to be involved and have a go at anything the kids, hubby or grandkids are doing. Hubby and I used to enjoy motorbike riding together, but in the last few years, as I put on weight, I would tell him to go off on his own. But, not now. I’m back on the bike and loving it! When I first joined Tribe, my visceral fat (the fat that surrounds your vital organs) was sky-high (dangerously high if I’m honest). Apart from my desire to lose weight, this visceral fat reading was a key motivator for me. Now, I’ve halved that health reading.
I’m also finding my love for shopping again. For years I’d reverted to online shopping to save myself the embarrassment of trying things on and them looking terrible or in some cases not fitting at all. There were times where I was trying to squeeze into a size 16 or 18, but recently, I walked into a store and was delighted to find myself in a size 12.
I’m so glad I walked through the doors at Tribe. I’m really enjoying it. The members are very friendly and the staff are all welcoming. Everyone knows your name and genuinely care about how you are going.
If you’re thinking of starting your health and fitness journey. Do it. Don’t wait any longer, come to Tribe. Once you walk through the doors, you won’t look back.
