Bernie’s stunning 40kg journey

Meet Bernadette.

Bernadette is the loving mother of her 3 gorgeous boys, Jouman (8), Joseph (5) and Jourdain (4).  As a single mum working 4 days a week, what she has achieved is inspirational.

Here Bernie shares her 40kg journey.

“I’ve been a member of other gyms previously and never had any success.  I’d turn up (occasionally), jump on a treadmill or cross trainer for a bit, get bored, lose motivation and then leave.

I’ve been wanting to lose weight for a while and drove past Tribe a number of times and saw the banner advertising the 4 Week Trial.  One day I thought this is it, I’m going to do something now.  I googled Tribe and filled in the quick and easy ‘contact form’.  A tribe team member called me straight away and booked in a time for me to pop in and be shown around.  I signed up for the 4 Week Trial.  I remember still being hesitant and thinking I’ll give the trial a go and see what happens.  The trial is fantastic, I got personal training sessions, full access to all classes, 2 Inbody scans and meal plans.  Everything  I needed to support me and get me truly started.

I’ve lost 40kgs and I’m loving life.  I have more energy, I feel younger and I’m so much more positive now.  Whilst it’s not always easy (working and having 3 young kids), I make sure I have no excuses.  The kids are helping me out around the house and are on board to help me to ensure I make my classes.  And, this makes me smile, I’ve caught my eldest son doing push ups, sit ups and wall holds.

The biggest thing I’ve learned is self control.  In the first few weeks I had a few slip ups as I adjusted and found my focus, but now I’m disciplined about 98% of the time.  The momentum from losing weight has been extremely motivating and all the trainers and members are really caring and supportive.  I haven’t even stepped foot on a treadmill or cross trainer here at Tribe, the classes are exceptional.  There is heaps of variety and they are fun.  I mix up my training with spin, power circuit, lift, outdoor training and my personal training with Kelly.  My personal training has been key in keeping me on track and holding me accountable weekly.

As someone living the journey right now, if there is one piece of advice I can give to someone about to start their journey, it’s don’t be afraid.  Everyone is so friendly here.  Give it a go.  Don’t give up.  It may take time, but it’s worth it”.
