Andrew’s 10 kilo journey

Andrew is competitive by nature and it’s this competitiveness which sparked his health and fitness journey.

10 years ago, my brother went away to attend University.  Whilst he was there, he exercised a lot and got himself into great shape.  I thought……if you can do it, I can to….and, I can do it even better.

I jumped on the scales and didn’t like what I saw.  So, I started hitting the pavement with running.  At the time, I held a Retail Management Role which kept me active too.  After months of commitment, I shed 45kgs.

My career took a different direction, which resulted in a desk job.  I was working sunrise to sunset and over the years, I gradually put 18 kilos back on.  I decided it was time to stop the upward weight trend and began exercising again, but the scales were not moving this time.  I was older, I was not living at home anymore and my metabolism had slowed down.

I drive past Tribe every day on my way to and from work and decided to give it a go.  I started on the Trial.  It’s a great way to experience everything Tribe has to offer as you get Personal Training, full access to classes, 2 Inbody scans and a meal plan.  After the Trial, I joined Tribe and continued with my Personal Training with Katie and I love it.  She keeps me accountable and has been able to help me get results.  So far, I’m 10 kilos down.  When I first started, my visceral fat (the fat surrounding your vital organs) was on the higher side.  Now, it’s in a good, healthy range.  And, the best part, I still enjoy going to the Rugby and Cricket and indulging in a few beers.  It’s all about balance.

I was a member of another chain of fitness and I found that it wasn’t friendly and was expensive as it was a massive cost for no result.   I didn’t know how to use the equipment and I felt like I was signed up on a membership and then left to my own devices.

Unlike Tribe, everyone is friendly and everyone knows my name, even the trainers who don’t train me know my name and always say hello.  I look forward to my training at Tribe as I love finishing a workout knowing I’ve given it my best.

Since starting my health and fitness journey, my self-confidence is higher, I like the way I look and my self-esteem is higher.  The advice I’d give to someone who is looking to start their health and fitness journey is …. Do it.  You won’t look back.
